Do you have a minimum day requirement for renting a vehicle?
We are the ONLY rental company on the Big Island allowing one day rentals especially for those special DAY-TRIP to get to the summit of Mauna Kea, or even to that beach you’ve had your eye on.

Can we take our rental vehicle to the summit of Mauna Kea?
Yes, you can go to the summit of Mauna Kea in all our vehicles. If you venture to the summit you must follow all the driving laws and park guidelines. A copy of that information is in the travel guide as well as a link to the Mauna Kea park website.
All our vehicles except the Grand Cherokee can go to Waipio Valley. The road is too small and narrow for the Grand Cherokee to safely make it without sustaining damage. Please note currently Waipio Valley is closed to tourists driving in but you can access the valley by using a tour shuttle service.
What do you need to complete a booking?
For all driver's we will need a copy/picture of
1) Valid/Current Drivers license
2) Insurance documentation $100k Liability and Full Comprehensive & Collision Coverage
How do I pay and book my rental vehicle?
You may book on our website and pay with any major credit card. If you're using a foreign credit card you may need to call your issuing bank or credit card customer service to approve the charge before it will successfully process.
We require a $250 damage deposit if you use your own insurance. It is refunded after you return the vehicle with no damage or excessive wear and tear (example: ripped tires). Payment for the rental itself is due in full at the time of booking to secure your reservation. If you book online and do not pay then the vehicle you selected will still be available for anyone else to rent over your rental dates. The Damage Deposit will be automatically charged to your credit card on file 5 days before your rental begins.
We require documentation showing Full Comprehensive & Collision Coverage and $100k Bodily Injury Liability Coverage. If you do not meet the minimum insurance requirements you can increase your coverage temporarily over your rental dates or use our insurance coverage. If you use our coverage there are three options:
1) $60/day processing fee plus tax and no damage deposit, $0 deductibles.
2) $40/day processing fee plus tax and $250 refundable damage deposit. $500 deductible for liability and $500 deductible for property damage.
3) $20/day processing fee plus tax and $500 refundable damage deposit. $1,000 deductible for liability and $1,000 deductible for property damage.
To honor the reservation, all prices are final after booking. We don't allow further discounts after the rental reservation is made. There is a $100 cancellation fee and $50 rebooking fee for shortening your trip. If you cancel your reservation at least 3 days in advance of its scheduled start time you will receive a full refund less the $100 cancellation fee. If you cancel less than 3 days in advance we cannot guarantee a refund, but we will refund you depending upon the same vehicle booking over your cancelled rental period. There is no fee for adjusting dates and keeping the trip length the same as long as it's requested at least 3 days in advance.
Do you guarantee the rental? Do you cancel trips on customers?
We guarantee our rental vehicles and have never had to cancel a trip on a renter. As a small business we do not overbook - the vehicle you book and pay for is secured for your use only. The only way we would have to cancel is if the renter before you wrecks the vehicle or damages it in some way that leaves it unsafe to operate, and that has never happened before.
How do we pick up the vehicle?
Our location for Jeep rentals in Kona is 4 miles from the Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA).
We recommend scheduling your ride from the airport in advance with Big Island Transportation or call 808-756-1144. They are the best transportation service on the island and have large vans, will track your flight, meet you at the baggage claim, load your luggage, and quickly deliver you to our location to pick up your rental vehicle.
Other options are catching an Uber, Lyft, or local taxi at the curb. Uber and Lyft usually have waits of around 15 minutes and the local taxis should be there at the curb most of the time.
If you have a larger group or amount of luggage we recommend sending one of the drivers to pick up the rental vehicle immediately after getting off the plane, rather than waiting for the luggage. The bags usually show up in 20 minutes and timing works out perfectly for the driver to return with the rental vehicle and pick the rest of the group and luggage up at the baggage claim curb.
What are my options for insurance while I drive the rental vehicle?
We require documentation of auto insurance that will cover your rental vehicle with Full Comprehensive & Collision Coverage and $100k Bodily Injury Liability Coverage. All of the information we need can be found on your Declaration Page or renewal documents. The document must show the name of insured drivers, effective dates over your rental period, insurance company name and the policy number.
If you do not meet the minimum insurance requirements you can increase your coverage temporarily over your rental dates or use our insurance coverage. If you use our coverage there are three options:
1) $60/day processing fee plus tax and no damage deposit, $0 deductibles.
2) $40/day processing fee plus tax and $250 refundable damage deposit. $500 deductible for liability and $500 deductible for property damage.

How many additional drivers are allowed on a car?
First Driver is included. Each additional driver is $5/per trip. There is a maximum of (4) drivers allowed on each rental vehicle contract.
Do you have a minimum age for renting a vehicle?
All drivers must be at least 21 years of age and present a valid photo drivers license. *If you are under the age of 25 there is a young driver fee of $20/day + tax.
How many miles does my rental car cover?
You have unlimited miles with your rental vehicle!
What if I get a traffic fine or speeding ticket?
You must pay and take care of all your parking fines and traffic violations. These can be paid online by looking up the case number. If you do not know your case number we can look it up by license plate and share it with you. If you do not pay your ticket and we have to track you down to get the matter closed then you will also need to pay us a $40 processing fee for our time and effort to get the issue cleared.
What is your cancellation policy?
You may cancel your reservation for a refund up to 72 hours prior to your reservation start time but you will also be charged a $100 cancellation processing fee to cover our time and credit card processing fees.
What if I need to shorten my booked trip and not fully cancel it?
If you need shorten your reservation there will be a rebooking fee of $50. This amount may be lowered depending on circumstances specific to your trip.
Damaged/Lost Keys
Currently the Jeep keys cost $550 to replace and the Bronco keys cost $650. These replacement costs are expected to increase every year.
